This section of the website provides information for golfers who are interested in coming to Thorpe Hall Golf Club.  We can promise that you will enjoy yourself at Thorpe Hall whether you are a guest of a member, a visiting golfer or a member of a Society.  You will find that the course affords an excellent test of golf with matures trees lining the majority of the fairways and with water on a number of holes.

After golf you will enjoy lunch or dinner in our dining room with views over the course.  Our resident chef, Phil Gigg, and his staff will attend to all your catering needs to ensure that you have an enjoyable day at this premier course in Essex.  For Societies we offer a range of attractive packages which can be tailored to suit your requirements. 

Etiquette

To help us maintain the course in the best possible condition for the enjoyment of all, we request you adhere to the following requirements:

  • Please repair your divots
  • Please repair all pitch marks
  • Please do not take trolleys inside the greenside bunkers, on to the tee boxes, aprons or greens
  • Please do not carry your golf bag across the greens or tee boxes
  • Please keep up with the game in front
  • If you lose one clear hole from the group ahead or are searching for a ball

Mobile Phones

Other than for emergencies - MOBILE PHONES must be switched off at all times on the course.
Mobile phones may be used in the car parks and main clubhouse foyer only.

Gentleman's Dress Code

This operates in the clubhouse and on the course (including the putting green and practice areas)

Acceptable Not Acceptable
Shirts must have collar and sleeves or golf approved turtle neck Football or rugby shirts
Shirts must be tucked in Cropped trousers/ shell suits/ track suit or jeans
Long trousers or smart tailored knee length shorts Cargo trousers and shorts (i.e. multi pocketed)
With Shorts wear long knee length golf socks or short predominantly white sports socks covering the ankle Football or beach shorts
Golf Shoes Trousers tucked into socks,

Clubhouse Dresscode

No waterproofs or headgear are to be worn in the lounge, dining room, spike bar or Presidents Room.
No wet or soild clothing is allowed in the lounge, dining room or President's Room.
Shoes and socks must be worn at all times.

Members are reminded that they are responsible for their caddy and guests.

If you are not properly dressed, you will not be allowed on the course or in the clubhouse.

This dress code is a condition of membership or of purchase of a green fee.
Golfers who do not comply could be asked to leave the course.
